Big Bass Boat
Big Bass Boat is one of those games that sneaks up on you. On the surface it's a fishing simulator — you steer a little boat around lakes, pick a spot, cast, and wait. But the more you play, the more you realize there's a real rhythm to it. Wind direction, time of day, and where the fish are hiding all matter, and the game quietly teaches you to read those cues without ever throwing a tutorial wall at you.
Control-wise it keeps things simple and tactile. You swipe to cast, and there's a satisfying little tension bar when something bites — pull too hard and the line snaps, too soft and it slips away. On a phone it works surprisingly well, and it never felt fiddly during our sessions. The boat handling is gentle rather than twitchy, which fits the whole calm mood.
What won us over is how unhurried it is. There's progression — better rods, new lakes, a small logbook of what you've caught — but nothing nags you to hurry. It's the kind of game you open for ten minutes before bed and then look up and realize half an hour has gone. A lovely, low-stress pocket sim.
